Going beyond the hype: Pioneers set to ‘Walk the Talks’ At Our Flagship Event

Every year our flagship event has a unique theme, and this time around we’re pleased to announce ‘Walk the Talks’ as the tagline for Pioneers ’19 on May 9th-10th.

As usual, our guests will gather in the Hofburg Imperial Palace in Vienna. Over the course of two days, visitors will experience an inspirational journey from the start of life to maturity and beyond. International thought leaders will offer insights into the technological developments impacting each stage of our lives, as well as how they’ll change our daily existence in the future.

One thing that doesn’t change from year to year, however, is the emphasis on networking.

“We quickly came to realize that networking is the be-all and end-all when it comes to events,” says Pioneers CEO Oliver Csendes. “A party is impressive, of course, but you only get real added value at events where you can make contacts – and moreover the right contacts. That’s exactly what we make possible, bringing the most important players together with the help of our automated ‘Match & Meet’ tool.”

We’re also pleased to announce our first main speaker, Dileep George, Co-Founder and CSO at Vicarious, which has received investments from Khosla Ventures and Samsung as well as Elon Musk. The company is developing artificial general intelligence for robots – by combining insights from generative probabilistic models and systems neuroscience, their architecture trains faster, adapts more readily, and generalizes more broadly than AI approaches commonly used today.

Dileep has authored 22 patents and several influential papers on the mathematics of brain circuits. His research on hierarchical models of the brain earned him a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.

Furthermore, Sakshi Chhabra Mittal, the Vice President of the SoftBank Investment Advisor team, will be joining us from London. Sakshi brings a specific interest in healthcare and life sciences, particularly on the opportunities that arise from merging computation and biology. She has been a main driver in pushing the Fund to invest in a selection of transformative companies worldwide.

Stay tuned to our channels over the coming weeks for further speaker announcements and news of the program for Pioneers ’19!
