VERBUND X ACCELERATOR

The aim of the VXA program is to unite key industry players with innovative startups to initiate and realize strategic pilot projects. We approached the project by defining relevant search fields with Verbund and corporate partners and sourcing use cases from business units. Furthermore, we scouted later-stage startups and engaged with top startups. With the realization of a PoC phase, we developed and tested prototypes. Eventually, various long-term cooperations were established.

OUTCOMES

  • Identification of 100+ suitable startups globally in each batch
  • 10+ PoCs that resulted in long-term collaborations
  • Successful cross-company cooperation

B.BRAUN STARTUP COLLABORATION PROGRAM  

B.Braun intends to collaborate with external startups and scaleups to innovate its core business. We defined different use cases for scouting with all departments and set up individual calls with all units to detail the use cases. Through iterative scouting activities, we identified the top 20-30 startups per use case and organized exploratory and selection interviews. Finally, we initiated pilot projects with selected startups.

OUTCOMES

  • Scouting for 10+ departments simultaneously for 3 years
  • Definition of 30+ use cases and identification of top startups
  • Several pilot projects that resulted in long-term collaborations

GREEN TECHNOLOGIES SCOUTING  

Vattenfall green:field, Vattenfall’s open innovation vehicle, aims to support Vattenfall business units in their collaboration with startups. Therefore, we scouted and pre-evaluated startups and introduced remote calls with the top 10 startups. Next to the on-site moderation of meetings with the top 5 startups we conducted the PoC planning workshop with 3 selected startups and finally initiated and implemented the PoC projects.

OUTCOMES

  • Identification of 25+ suitable startups from all over Europe 
  • Successful PoCs with 3 startups
  • Discovery of new business models, products and services
