About Scaleup4Europe
Scaleup4Europe is a cross-border project funded by the Horizon 2020 program of the European Union, supporting innovative companies to scale and foster their collaboration with corporates and public organisations. We’ve teamed up with with four European startup ecosystems to drive deep tech innovations in #HealthTech and three other industry verticals: #AgTech, #AgileManufacturing and #SmartRegion.
At Pioneers, we’re leading the #HealthLab and are looking for top scaleups with digital health solutions to join our lab so we can take you on your scaling journey across Europe.
The HealthLab Program
The ScaleUp4Europe HealthLab program will support in total, the top 10 startups and scaleups who apply will receive full access to the readiness services, whilst the top maximum 6 will also receive a place on the corporate collaboration program. Selected scaleups and startups will be supported in the two essential ways described below. The estimated time required is about 1-3 hours per week during the 4-week program.
Readiness Services
Corporate Collaboration Program
In addition to the readiness services, the top maximum 6 selected startups and scaleups will also be put forward for the corporate collaboration program which will focus on co-creation and collaboration alongside corporate partners. The goal of the programme is for you to solve specific challenges through a 4-week remote collaboration program and present your solutions at a final event to a jury of corporate partners and experts. The the top-fit solutions can then be selected for a pilot project phase with the respective corporate partner.

When applying for the HealthLab, you have the chance to apply to the corporate collaboration program, however, if your solution is not in the search field of our partners introduced above but still in the digital health space, you can also apply to the program and take part in the readiness services only.

How might we empower patients with diagnosed skin conditions to live a better life?
DESCRIPTION
Skin diseases are the fourth most common cause of all human disease, affecting almost one-third of the world’s population, yet their burden is often underestimated, despite their visibility. The aim of the challenge is to find patient-centric, B2B2C digital solutions that empower patients to cope better by tracking or treating their skin-related medical conditions. The solution is expected to provide a real added value for the patient and be complementary to medical therapy.

ABOUT THE CHALLENGE PARTNER
The challenge partner is not ready to reveal herself just yet, but you can get to know them during the program. What they are ready to tell is that they are a leading generic pharmaceutical company in Europe whose activities incorporate all areas of the pharmaceutical value chain. The challenge partner is a member of an international pharmaceutical company governed by a non-profit foundation with its headquarters in France. While focusing mainly on treating diseases of the cardiovascular and central nervous systems, the challenge partner also provides modern treatment solutions in the fields of oncology and women’s health.
Empowering home-based caregivers using digital solutions
How might we provide new digital solutions to empower on a day-to-day basis, caring relatives and non-professionals caregivers of elderly patients in a long-term homecare setting?
DESCRIPTION
More than half of all dependents in Germany are cared for at home solely by caring relatives. Caring relatives are often overwhelmed by the great responsibility of coordinating, planning and adapting to these new and always changing circumstances and bear the significant emotional burden of caregivers often without professional training. The aim of this challenge is to empower caring relatives to be able to improve the quality of care at home, and provide them with a peace of mind knowing that their family member is being well cared for. To achieve this, we are searching for start-ups/partners that provide innovative digital solutions for people that care for elderly people at home.

ABOUT THE CHALLENGE PARTNER
For 200 years, HARTMANN has proudly channelled its clinical and medical expertise into smart solutions that are accessible to everyone. Since then, they help, care, protect and they are constantly looking for ways to improve treatments, outcomes, and healthcare experiences. The newly established Digital Business department is a key player in moving HARTMANN from a mostly product-centric company to become more of a solutions provider.
Selection Criteria
When applying for the HealthLab, we will be selecting startups based on 3 key criteria, outlined below.
Maturity
Startups and scaleups who have been operating for at least 1 year and who have achieved a minimum 100.000 EUR in turnover
Traction & Product
Startups and scaleups who have a product/service that is already on the market
Location
Startups and scaleups who are based in Europe and who are looking to scale across Europe
Timeline
After the application deadline, the selection process will take place in December supported by our challenge partners.
Applicants will be notified about the results of the selection process from 13th December.
