Industry 4.0 Hackathon

November 12-14, 2018, Linz

Until October 22, 2018

Industry Pioneers brings together the brightest minds to unlock the potential of new technologies that are driving the fourth industrial revolution and shaping the future of smart manufacturing.

The goal of the Industry 4.0 Hackathon is to solve the transformational challenges and create new solutions in a rapid prototyping format. To achieve this goal, four partners will host real-life challenges and participants (startups, students, innovators, entrepreneurs) will develop new prototypes in only 48 hours.

Hackathon Topics

Industry 4.0 encompasses changes along the whole production value chain leading to the higher efficiency and flexibility. At the Hackathon startups have an opportunity to make a step into the future of Industry 4.0 by solving specific real-life challenges of partner companies:

Predictive Quality process improvement with visual inspection to identify abnormalities from pictures and data to predict the quality of products. Focus use case area: How can we decrease pseudo-failure ratio (compare to the current solution) but still make sure that the system always defines the good part correctly and prevents that scrap part will be declared as a good part?

Predictive quality; AI; Object Recognition; Visual Interpretation.

Find an easy way how to train an industrial robot to do a new task! What is the technical concept and an initial implementation of a new, intuitive and innovative approach to learn a robot a new task? Focus use case areas: Grab an object from a pick position; Plan a collision free path from the pick position to the place position; React to obstacles (detection and path correction); Place the grabbed object at the target position, optionally; Place more objects to a definable pattern (palletizing).

Smart Devices; Intelligent cameras and sensors; Voice and gesture input and control; Hololens (AR); Machine learning; AI; ROS Community (Robot Operating System).

Development of a Digital Twin for TGWs 'PickCenter Revolution', which picks up items and places them in target positions. After being provided with CAD data and several hours of machine feedback, you will be asked to develop a Dashboard, Log File and Animated Digital Twin.

Digital Twin, 3D Modelling, Real-time vizualization, Process Mining, Cross Platform Software

Development of a traceable, fraud-proof immutability of quality certificates built on blockchain or tangle technology. Certificates should carry a variety of material data from automated systems as well as manual measures, and provide only users with permission, access to all info in a secure way.

The Disruptive Industry is How We Create It

We are entering a new area of industry in which computers and automation will come together in an entirely new way, with robotics connected remotely to computer systems equipped with machine learning algorithms that can learn and control the robotics with very little input from human operators.
Industry 4.0 introduces what has been called the “smart factory,” in which cyber-physical systems monitor the physical processes of the factory and make decentralized decisions. The physical systems become Internet of Things, communicating and cooperating both with each other and with humans in real time via the wireless web.
But this is a concept we are shaping together - something which changes with every innovation we create. So let´s disrupt together and create our own new Industry 4.0.

Benefits of participation

Learning Experience

You will absorb a lot of knowledge and innovative approaches, take these insights home and replicate in their endeavour.

Winning Prize and Certificates

The winner of each challenge will win a personal award from the partner company. The overall hackathon winner will furthermore win a care package from Pioneers including a ticket for Pioneers´19 as well as a year pass for the co-working space at Factory300.

Solve Real World Challenges

It’s a great chance to expand network, ask for advice and to interact one-on-one with expert mentors, who will follow and support.

Care Package

Pioneers will provide food and drinks over the whole time of the hackathon - this will make every developer heart jump higher. You will also get an accommodation voucher.

Business Development and Collaboration

Get the experience of challenging your product or solution within a new industry or use case - if you can prove your skills this is the perfect opportunity to interact with new potential partners.

Network & Mentoring
