Hanns is co-founder and President of Anki, Inc., a Robotics company in San Francisco. Anki uses Robotics and AI to develop entertainment products at the intersection of toys and video games. Anki DRIVE, Anki’s first product was named as one of the Top 25 Best Inventions of 2013 by TIME Magazine. Anki raised Series A, B and C from Silicon Valley based Investors Andreessen Horowitz and Index Ventures, and New York based Two Sigma and JP Morgan. Hanns is passionate about creating consumer products he always wanted to have but didn’t exist. Before Co-Founding Anki, he designed robots for companies and research labs in the US, Germany and Austria, from remote bomb disposal systems to robotic vacuum cleaners. Hanns received his Dipl. Ing. in Computer Science from the University of Technology in Vienna before joining the PhD program at Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute. To date, he still needs to find the time to write the remaining 35 pages of his PhD thesis.
